Hystar, a Norwegian manufacturer of next-generation PEM electrolysers, has announced on the 21st of October at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg,  a collaboration with Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), one of the world’s pioneers in renewable hydrogen production, and Euromekanik, a leading Swedish hydrogen systems integrator. Together, the companies are advancing two of Sweden’s most significant renewable hydrogen initiatives, located in Jordberga and Vaggeryd.

With an installed capacity of 10 MW each, the projects represent a major milestone in Sweden’s hydrogen market — setting a new benchmark for large-scale, renewable hydrogen production dedicated to industrial and mobility applications.

Accelerating Sweden’s green transition

The three partners share a common goal: to accelerate the decarbonisation of industry and transport while strengthening Sweden’s energy sovereignty. The hydrogen produced at the Jordberga and Vaggeryd sites will be generated through electrolysis of water powered by renewable energy, providing a sustainable and flexible energy source for regional industries and transport operators.

By developing centralised production sites, the partners will make green hydrogen accessible to a wide range of users without requiring each company to invest in their own on-site facilities — a model that supports rapid market deployment and cost efficiency.

The announcement was made during the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg.

Hystar CEO Fredrik Mowill said the collaboration marks a strong vote of confidence in Hystar’s technology and mission.

Fredrik Mowill, CEO HystarWe are grateful to Lhyfe for placing their trust in Hystar by selecting us for this important project, which will help accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen across Europe. At Hystar, our mission is to make green hydrogen production more efficient, scalable, and reliable. Partnering with leading companies like Lhyfe and Euromekanik not only demonstrates confidence in our technology but also reinforces our shared commitment to a more sustainable energy future. We look forward to delivering a successful project together.

Peter Rydebrink, CEO  Euromekanik ABWe are very happy to be a part of these hydrogen projects showing that the hydrogen market in Sweden is moving forward.  We are also very much looking forward to a deeper cooperation with Lhyfe and Hystar.

Sara Wihlborg, Country Manager for Sweden at Lhyfe “We’re excited to enter this new stage for our two major projects, Jordberga and Vaggeryd. The support provided by Euromekanik and Hystar is invaluable — it enables us to further secure these projects and move confidently toward a Final Investment Decision. Sweden needs to accelerate the development of green hydrogen, and together, we intend to play our part — contributing significantly and as quickly as possible to the decarbonisation and strengthening of our country’s energy sovereignty!”
