Orion – 20 MW Cluster
For Large-Scale Plants
The standardised Orion cluster is a scalable solution engineered for seamles integration into large-scale electrolyser projects. Developed in collaboration with leading EPC partners, it delivers the critical core of a high-performance electrolyser plant.
Designed to maximise efficiency, reliability, and operational simplicity, each cluster functions independently, enhancing turn-down capability and overall system flexibility. Its skid-based architecture enables efficient transport and rapid integration, while a robust redundancy strategy and a design for service ensures exceptional availability and uptime.
Orion is Hystar’s standardized 20 MW cluster that acts as the repeatable building block for gigawatt-scale green hydrogen plants.
A single 20 MW Orion cluster produces 368 kg of hydrogen per hour at rated capacity, with a cluster efficiency of 48.2 kWh/kg.
Orion clusters are combined behind a single balance of plant to scale from tens of megawatts to 1 GW and beyond, without re-engineering the underlying design at each capacity increase.
Hystar developed the Orion cluster concept in collaboration with McDermott, a global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, including a turnkey 100 MW green hydrogen plant layout built from Orion clusters.
